At Sanctuary Salonspa in Minnesota we’re proud to be an Aveda salon for many reasons—one of which is their commitment to eco-friendly, cruelty-free products, services and business practices. We’re thrilled to announce Aveda just made a breakthrough in that direction by going 100% vegan!
That’s right—as of January 2021, every one of Aveda’s 500+ hair, skin, body and makeup products have no animal-derived ingredients. Though all Aveda products previously were vegetarian—and many were already vegan—it took three years to reformulate them all to ensure zero animal products were used in any step in the process.
This involved coming up with alternatives to ingredients such as beeswax or honey—and making sure each substitute improved on the original. For instance, the new beeswax alternative in products like lip color is created from naturally derived plant waxes and butters, which give enhanced moisturization and replenishment.
We at Sanctuary Salonspa are happy to give more vegan self-care choices to our guests and community. Using vegan beauty products like Aveda’s helps save animals, reduces the exploitation of natural resources, and protects our planet from excess C02 emissions.
